Who we're looking for

Become a CWSF Judge

The Canada-Wide Science Fair requires about 160 judges to evaluate approximately 420 projects each year. These judges are recruited from the local community. We seek judges from a wide range of disciplines:

  • Dentists
  • Engineers from all disciplines
  • Faculty at Universities and Colleges
  • Medical doctors
  • Pharmacists
  • Scientists from industry
  • Scientists from government laboratories

Qualifications

  • PhD or MSc
  • Equivalent professional qualifications
  • Graduate students who have a particular interest and experience in outreach
  • Students in undergraduate programs are not eligible to judge at the CWSF
  • Those who are bilingual in French and English are particularly welcome

You will meet many students who will amaze you. The best projects are at the level of a Masters Degree!

What's involved

Judging at the CWSF is a rewarding experience, and we value the time and expertise you bring. By volunteering, you help create a positive and empowering experience for these young innovators.

  • Time Commitment

    Judges are typically asked to volunteer for 1 to 2 days during the week of the fair.

  • Orientation and Training

    You’ll receive all the necessary materials, training, and guidelines to ensure a smooth and consistent judging process.

  • Engagement

    You’ll evaluate projects and engage with students to encourage their continued interest in STEM.
