How they’re selected to participate

The participants of the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) are among Canada’s brightest young minds in science, technology, engineering, and math. Each year, students from Grades 7 to 12 (or equivalent) qualify for CWSF by competing in their regional STEM fairs across the country.

These finalists represent the best projects in a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from environmental science to engineering innovation. Through their hard work and dedication, they’ve earned the chance to showcase their projects on the national stage at CWSF.

Get ready for an unforgettable week packed with exciting events, from project showcases to thrilling activities! Here’s a sneak peek at what our participants will be up to each day.

Saturday
The excitement kicks off as participants arrive and get settled in! Explore the campus, join in some fun activities, and start meeting your fellow finalists!
Sunday
It’s time for the official start! The Opening Event is where the magic begins followed by orientation activities to help everyone get acquainted and ready for the incredible week ahead. Afterward, participants will set up their projects, gearing up for the thrilling experiences that lie ahead.
Monday
This is it—Judging Day! Participants will impress the judges with their projects, showcasing months of hard work. It’s a day filled with adrenaline and excitement, as you share your passion and discoveries. Afterward, unwind with your peers at the evening events.
Tuesday
It’s another action-packed day! Judging continues, giving you another chance to impress the experts with your incredible work. Afterward, you’ll dive into lab experiences, exploring cutting-edge science hands-on. And to top it all off, the evening will be pure fun with the CWSF Talent Show—a chance to show off your skills beyond STEM and cheer for your peers as they take the stage. It’s going to be an unforgettable day of learning, discovery, and fun!
Wednesday
Today’s all about exploration! Participants will enjoy a Tour Day, heading out to discover the beauty and charm of Fredericton. From local attractions to scenic spots, this is your chance to experience the city and take a break from the competition. You’ll engage in fun activities, sightsee with your fellow finalists, and create lasting memories as you explore all that Fredericton has to offer. Get ready for an adventure!
Thursday
The public joins the party today! Share your amazing project with the world as visitors pour in to learn about your innovations. Plus, there are hands-on STEM activities to dive into! At night, we're all about celebration! The Awards Ceremony will recognize the incredible achievements of participants. Get ready to cheer, celebrate, and enjoy the moment!
Friday
Public viewing continues and is your chance to absorb new knowledge, engage with the public, and take in the impact of STEM. Then it's time to take down your projects and celebrate with your fellow participants. Laugh, play, and bond over the shared memories of an unforgettable week.
Saturday
As the week comes to an end, it’s time for goodbyes. Participants will depart with new friends, new experiences, and a wealth of memories to cherish. Safe travels, and don’t forget—you’ve made a mark here that will last a lifetime!
