The Forensic Sciences Branch of the Edmonton Police Service is dedicated to uncovering the truth through the power of forensic science. We specialize in solving crimes using advanced techniques like forensic video analysis, facial recognition and extracting evidence from digital devices. We analyze fingerprints and collect DNA to identify people, ballistics to trace firearms and apply bloodstain pattern analysis to understand how an event unfolded. Through advanced chemical enhancement techniques we can also uncover hidden evidence not seen to the naked eye. Combining scientific methods with cutting edge technology, we turn small clues into reliable facts to support solving crime.
Edmonton Regional Science Fair
The Edmonton Regional Science Fair (ERSF) exists to provide opportunities for students to build a life-long love of scientific discovery and learning.
Through participation in the ERSF, we will engage youth in a scientific event that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, effective communication, interaction with peers, and citizenship.
The Edmonton Regional Science Fair Council consists of a team of volunteers who, since 1960, have been planning, hosting, and executing the annual Fair each spring. Each year, hundreds of students from Edmonton and the surrounding area catch the excitement of a scientific discovery or investigation. Many of these bright minds will become leaders in Alberta’s future scientific community. All will appreciate the role that science plays in their daily lives.
